At the end of June, Nice's port district celebrates Saint Peter's Day, the patron saint of fishermen. A popular maritime festival, inherited from the fishing communities of the Mediterranean.
A tradition of fishermen
Saint Peter, a fisherman before becoming an apostle, has for centuries been the protector of seafarers. In Nice, the festival takes place around the port, with boat blessings and convivial moments – a tribute to the ancient link between the city and the sea.
On the plate
This is an opportunity to celebrate Nice's seafood cuisine: small fried fish, rockfish, and all the freshest and simplest local seafood. A modest cuisine, reflecting the neighborhood.
